How does tattoo removal work?
The laser light energy emitted is absorbed by the tattoo pigment, causing it to heat so rapidly that it shatters and breaks down into much smaller fragments. The body’s white blood cells are then able to remove these much smaller ink particles via the lymph system. This process continues for months following each session of tattoo removal.
Does tattoo removal hurt?
The treatment can be uncomfortable, but easily tolerable. Treatment is quick and we often take short pauses. Sensation can vary from person to person but is often described as the ‘flick of hot oil’ or ‘the snap of an elastic band’. It can feel hot during and after treatment, but this should subside quickly. We also use cooling methods before, during and after treatment to make it as comfortable as possible.
How many sessions will I need?
Tattoo removal sessions vary for each individual and is dependent on many factors, such as; the type of tattoo (professional or amateur), the colour and density of the ink or if it’s a cover-up or a complete removal. Results after each session are progressive and can be noticed after just a few sessions; however, It is recommended a minimum of 8 sessions, with some larger and deeper set pigmented tattoo’s taking 10-15 sessions for a complete removal. Your tattoo will be fully assessed on the day. Sessions are every 8-12 weeks.
Am I suitable for laser tattoo removal?
Most people are suitable for treatment. It is our policy that an initial consultation takes place first to assess suitability, perform a patch test and chat through the treatment in more detail to ensure clients are fully informed before treatment commences.
